October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and around the Houston area, local businesses are contributing to the American Cancer Society.  For over a decade, we at J. Landa have been a part of the cause, helping to spread awareness about breast cancer during the month.  Once again, I am proud to say we are at it again.

In that same time, we have also participated in the American Cancer Society's Holiday Shopping Card, which offers the city's residents fantastic discounts in the local shops and boutiques.

This year is no different, as we have once teamed up with the American Cancer Society to be one of 700 Houston retailers providing discounts when customers use the card.  Shoppers can simply present the card when making a purchase at my store to receive a great discount.

I have been participating in the Holiday Shopping Card promotion for over 10 years.  For me, it is a great opportunity for customers to shop early for Christmas and I can give back to the community of Houston.

For a minimum contribution of $75 to the American Cancer Society, customers will receive a Holiday Shopping Card.  Shoppers can get the card between October 20th and 30th, and enjoy the savings in time for Christmas.

The Holiday Shopping Card allows customers to receive 20% of all products at me store. For my fantastic clients, the card means they can receive a discount on jewelry items that would otherwise not be discounted.  Customers can even use the Holiday Shopping Card multiple times during the campaign.

I truly believe giving back to the community is important.  It truly makes me happy I can use my business to help during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

As part of Cancer Awareness Month at my store, I will be welcoming fellow jewelry designer and good friend Richard Schmidt, and wife Janet to the store.  Richard is a designer for La Grange, Texas and has been wowing critics for years with his unique offerings.

Richard has been designing special pieces in preparation for our Diva de los Muertos event.  We have once again collaborated to create the event for the Day of the Dead and Halloween celebrations in Houston.

We originally created the Diva de los Muertos campaign two years ago.  It is based on the Day of the Dead and La Calavera Catrina.  The collection that will be on display will include skulls, saints, crosses, and beautiful turquoise colors.  The collaboration between Richard and I tells the same story.  I can't wait for everyone to see it this year.

The great thing about Richard, is he understands my clients' needs and their higher-end aesthetic likings. His collection now includes diamonds, which I absolutely love.

When I met Richard, I immediately fell in love with his design.  I'm the only store in Houston that features his line, which makes us quite unique in the city.

While visiting the store for the Diva de los Muertos event, customers can also view my range of jewelry specially designed for the Christmas season.  We're ready for the Holidays.

The store already has an array of brilliant gift ideas for clients searching for the perfect holiday present.  Customers can also use their Holiday Shopping Card to receive 20% off their purchases.

Customers can expect a variety of jewelry at every price-point this year.  We make it easy to shop.  From fine jewelry, classics, to fun and trendy.  Whether you're buying for a co-worker or a loved one, we are available to help.  Plus, we have great pieces in our J. Landa Fine Collection for the perfect holiday gift for the person you love.  Our J. Landa Fine Collection is strong and diverse... I can't wait for people to see what we have this year.

I have teamed up with the fantastic non-profit organization Dress for Success to present the Beauty, Health, and Fashion event on September 28th, 6-8pm.  I am extremely proud to have such a distinguish group of fashion experts join me in-store. My amazing guests will speak to the crowd and provide demonstrations of their products.

The inspiration behind the Beauty, Health, and Fashion event is to empower women through those three critical areas.  As so much our pleasure in life comes from those three regions.

As a company and a person that wants to make a difference to the lives of women around the world, we will be raising money for Dress for Success as 10% of proceeds from the sales that evening will be generously donated to DSF.  Their mission is to empower women and help them achieve financial independence.  Something I feel is greatly important in Houston, and something not all women have the power to achieve.

The mother-daughter due of Nancy and Lauren Levicki run the largest and most successful chapter in the nation.  We have worked together on projects in the past, and it excites me to work with the fabulously chic pair once more.

Both Nancy and Lauren have worked tirelessly to raise money and awareness for empowering women, and both continue to work hard every day to grow their Dress for Success group.

I have had the pleasure to collaborate with Nancy and Lauren on events for the past four years. Most notably, we brought Los Angeles-base designer Chan Luu to Houston as our guest in my store.  That was a fantastic event that was well received by all, and I can't wait to work together again on the Beauty, Health, and Fashion event on September 28th.

This year's event will feature numerous speakers and attractions for those in attendance. Joy Sewing from The Houston Chronicle will be at the event speaking to our guests.  Joy is the fashion editor of the newspaper and she will be speaking about her #YearofJoy, which will be amazing.

In addition to Joy, the mobile beauty company PageBoy will be in-store providing a team of hair and make-up experts available for Fall trends.  Libby Cagle and Lauren Taft run the fantastic company, and their presence will be truly special.

Houston's Soul Cycle will also be on hand providing demonstrations as they will represent the healthy portion of the event.  They will have a bike and provide tips on how to stay fit as we head into the Fall and winter months.

Speaking of Fall, I will be talking about the new Fall jewelry trends and debuting my latest collection.  I'm very excited about the collection as I feel it's influenced by, not only my travels around the world, but by the theme of empowering women.

My clients are 95% female, and coming from a very powerful and successful lineage of women allows me to understand and continue their support through my business and philanthropy.

I hope that this will be our biggest event of the year! I have never never hosted such a distinguished panel of guests before- It goes without saying that I'm quite nervous and excited at the same time.

However, my store is ready to elevate the brand and the partnerships, and I hope we can help change Houston.  We are working to give women a voice, one person at a time.
