J. Landa Introduces Mercado Oaxaca + Cinco de Mayo Celebration

In February, we took a trip to Oaxaca City, Mexico, with the plan to consume its culture and art. Simply put, it's a magical place. We could have spent weeks walking down the cobblestone streets lined with restaurants, boutique hotels, shops and galleries. And we could have spent months exploring the surrounding villages and their specialized crafts. Inspiration is everywhere – from the eclectic mix of architectural styles to the vibrant textiles and lush botanicals. Markets and artisans are at every corner selling their hand-crafted goods, and we simply can't wait to share our findings with you.

Luckily, we had an amazing woman guide us through the rich history of Oaxaca and introduce us to amazing artisans who we have worked closely with to build our collection. We believe in Fair Trade, and it was wonderful to work directly with indigenous women and men.

We'll be introducing our Oaxaca collection just in time for your Cinco de Mayo celebrations on Wednesday, May 2. Be prepared to shop one-of-a-kind clutches, handmade earrings, necklaces and cuffs.

Our Rice Village neighbor Emerson Sloan will join the party, selling all of the necessities to throw a fabulous fiesta – table runners from Guatemala, Mexican blouses for the chic Cinco de Mayo hostess (which will pair perfectly with our vibrant Oaxacan earrings), cocktail napkins, Mexican otomi styrofoam cups, confetti balloons, Mexican garlands and more. It will be a two-shop stop for all of your Cinco de Mayo needs.

Our Mercado Oaxaca will have a bit of everything we experienced during our travels. It's all about bringing the Oaxaca mood to Houston. Think colorful beaded necklaces, festive statement earrings, woven chokers and hand-selected embroidered clutches.  It will be a mix of items made in Mexico and items hand-crafted here in Houston, with the Oaxaca sentiment in mind. Of course, it wouldn't be a J. Landa collection without a touch of our signature skull ;)

Mercado Oaxaca opens officially on March 2 with margaritas & bites throughout the entire day. Get ready for a festive celebration of culture, color and magic.

xoxoxo,
jay
