Our Year in Review
2017 was, um, an eventful year for Houston. We hosted the Super Bowl, were hit by Hurricane Harvey, and we won the World Series. It was a year of resilience, and our city bounced back.
We like to think we bounced back, in part thanks to our amazing customers for their support. The first half of the year was filled with amazing events. We collaborated with a handful of our favorite #badB designers and artists – hosted pop-ups including crocheted bags from New York street artist London Kaye, authentic Arvacas sandals exclusively sold at Sultana's Daughter and wearable works of art by the talented sisters of De Petra – and I got engaged with long-term partner and architect Daniel Turner.
When Harvey hit, the whole city was paralyzed. A few inches of water made its way into the store, but nothing compared to what others in the city endured. We were fortunate for our mere 6 inches. As soon as Harvey passed, the city was back at it, helping each other rebuild.
We re-opened as soon as we could – a huge thank you to those who stopped by and didn't mind the mess during the renovation. It was a stressful time of the year, and we hope we were – and continue to be – a place of refuge from life's stresses. It's all about feeling good here at J. Landa.
We're ending the year with a bang, again thanks to you. We may be biased, but there is no one as fierce as the J. Landa customer. You inspire us to curate the best selection because each one of you #badBs has your own story to tell; and you sure know how to #dragitout. We are thankful for such a chic, strong and loyal customer. We (literally) couldn't do it without you.
So with you in mind, we're moving into the new year thinking of exciting ways to bring you artful pieces from different cultures around the world. We're so excited for what's to come. Stay tuned!
XOXO,
Jay

Jay,
I’m so glad you’ve found someone that makes you happy! I have watched you, your life and the store evolve in some way since pretty much the beginning. I still have some of those original pieces and they are treasures. I remember coming in and talking about the latest bag I had purchased and what was going on in your life or mine at the time. Time goes by so quickly. Continued success and happiness my friend!
